Grey fantail

THE POND outside my home office attracts a lot of different birds each day. They come here to drink and to bathe, being the only source of fresh water under trees for some distance.

One of the regular visitors is this grey fantail (Rhipidura albiscapa) native to Australia, Solomon Islands, New Caledonia and Vanuatu. It is closely related to the New Zealand fantail.
