I SPENT Australia Day weekend on North Stradbroke Island, arriving at Point Lookout I walked along the top of the island towards some campsites in the middle of Flinder's Bay.
Flinder's Bay was named after Matthew Flinders, the first person to circumnavigate Australia's coastline on a tiny boat. From here the comfortably warm summer sea breeze brought in a minimal swell off the Coral Sea. Moreton Island lay a couple of kilometres offshore.
