I TRAVELLED around Wellington Harbour to the remote eastern side. It was recorded that during the 1855 earthquake centred nearby the land around here rose six full metres out of the water.
The harbour entrance is a very rugged area of coastline, where the large Antarctic swells break in bleak coldness even though it is supposed to be the height of summer. The terrain here is very rugged with only a few houses tightly snuggled against the steep hills.
