ALTHOUGH the video camera was a bit step up from my previous camera having the zoom lens and all, I was by now realising I needed something a lot better if I was to get serious about my photography. I took the step and bought an SLR camera.
The 400D was a good entry level SLR, coming with two lenses, one a basic 24-55mm zoom, and the other a 75-300mm telephoto. I also purchased a circular polariser filter to get a better dynamic range to colours.
The difference was enormous. Going from 2.3 to 10.1 megapixels allowed a lot more information to go into each shot. The resolution was far better. I had found the shots taken by the video camera were very grainy. The SLR all but eliminated the graininess. Now I was ready for some more serious photography.
