FEW places on Earth could be as stunning as Milford Sound.
Here cliffs tower vertically a mile high out of the water. It is a landscape that defies gravity. It has been carved by enormous glaciers that have flowed through here in ice ages past.
The cruise followed the base of the massive cliffs of Mitre Peak out into the Tasman Sea where the fjord suddenly disappeared from view. The boat returned following the dark cliffs of the Lion and The Elephant stopping at Stirling Falls on the way back.
We were but a speck in the midst of these enormous mountains towering out of the sea.
