IT WAS a perfectly clear day over the Mackenzie Country. The arid summer had sucked out all the moisture from the soil turning the once green grass on the hills a lifeless brown.
The lake itself was a brilliant blue colour reflecting the blue of the sky. What had once been a glacial lake was crystal clear. Even now at the height of summer the water was too cold for algae to grow.
