MORETON Island occupies the north eastern corner of Moreton Bay. The contrast between here and Brisbane on the other side is worlds apart. The water on the other side of the bay is dull and muddy. Here on this side the turquoise water is crystal clear and inviting.

Here at Bulwer where the ferry lands there are some wrecks rusting here as a reminder of the whaling days of long ago. From here large sweeping bays of granite sand swept southward along the coast. Gum forest forms a natural backdrop to the golden beaches further adding to the remoteness of this place.
