HEADING down the glacial valley from the centre of La Paz, we reached an unusual area where pillars of gravel towered in the air around us. The glacier that once carved out the basin making up the city had deposited the moraine here. Millennia of rainfall had shaped the landscape into the alien pillars we could now see.
Climbing a small hill we reached Mirador del Diablo - The Devil's View Point. The view across the scarred barren landscape was spectacular from here.
