ABOVE the forest that encircles Mount Kilimanjaro is a heathland abundant with many species, including some that are found nowhere else on Earth.

Mount Kilimanjaro is a sky island, with its altitude isolating the plants from anywhere else in Africa giving them the opportunity to evolve independently into new species.

In the distance is a small volcanic cone. By itself it is an impressive size, but it is but a bump on the massive mountain upon which it stands.
