THE ROADS of Kampala were covered in orange soil from flooding in recent unseasonal storms. Although fine today, it appeared this equatorial city at the edge of Lake Victoria had a very unpredictable climate.
Although there were modern cars on the road, it was apparent this was one of the poorest nations on Earth with the derelict shacks lining either side of the road.
