THE CYCLONE hit the coast with a vengeance at Yeppoon about 650 kilometres to the north yesterday morning. It was fed by a huge southerly rain system.
Yesterday and today I had about 300 millimetres fall at my place from the cyclone, causing the pond to flood out over my front yard despite the emergency drainage working perfectly well. There was just too much rain falling to prevent the flooding.
Fortunately in the early afternoon the storm cleared as the eye of the ex-cyclone passed overhead. There was only a small amount of rain at the other side so the flooding quickly cleared away.
