THE NORMALLY placid Gheerulla Creek today was thundering through the rainforest swollen by what will most likely be the last big rain of the rainy season.
Around 150 millimetres of rain had fallen in the park over the past 24 hours raising the levels of all the streams and rivers well above normal levels. Throughout this morning thick mist clung to the valleys and large rainclouds continued dumping rain in between bright bursts of sunshine that turned all the drops of rain on the foliage into liquid diamonds.
