HEADING south from Pyongyang, we eventually reached the four kilometre wide demilitarised zone between North and South Korea. Upon entering DMZ we stopped at a couple of buildings where the many meetings had been held between the two sides during the 1950-1953 Korean War and where the armistice agreement heading to the longest ceasefire in history was signed. From there we headed here to the border where it was heavily guarded on both sides.

Upon heading out of DMZ we headed to the ancient capital Kaesong where we visited a local Confucian temple before heading past the industrial estate where South Koreans used to cross the border each day to work. We stopped at a restaurant for lunch where I tried Dog Soup. It was very nice with a great texture. What does dog taste like? Actually it's a bit like chicken, but then again all meat tastes like chicken (except perhaps chicken). Dog is a high protein meat commonly eaten througout these parts of Asia.

From Kaeson we returned to Pyongyang where we visited a local shopping centre, had dinner, and walked along the new science precinct with its spectacular high rises towering above the river.
