RETURNING to Beijing in the middle of the morning with final farewells to group I had travelled with over the past week, I had the afternoon to start exploring the temples of this ancient city. Navigating my way through the very narrow maze through the hatongs of the old imperial city, I eventually reached a couple of temples.
One of these was the temple of Confucious. Inside the entrance was a larger than life marble statue of the figure. Although not a religion as such, Confucious was a political leader who taught great wisdom. His legacy remains perpetuated in this amazing temple and museum.
