RETURNING to Beachmere in the very early morning I set up the camera on a tree looking out over the remains of a mangrove forest heavily eroded in recent decades from the occasional flooding of the Caboolture River.
The eastern sky started showing the first signs of light around 3:30AM, with Jupiter leading the way for the sun. By 4:00 fiery colours filled the horizon turning the gnarly trees and old stumps over the mud flats into an apocolyptic scene. There were at least two other photographers here, being a well-known spot in the local photographic community.
The sun finally appeared just before 5:00 sending a pinkish hue across the mudflats, commencing the rapid increase in temperature towards 34 degrees.
