ARRIVING after some spectacular thunderstorms following the coast southwards, and before a new set of mountainous clouds bringing rain from the east, I watched the dawn from near the "eye" of the low pressure system on the southern bank of the mouth of the Tingalpa Creek.

It was an unusual sunrise with the low clouds moving quickly onshore, yet not a breath of wind in the warm humid air. Nearby a dead gum tree reached up towards the layers of cloud swirling by.

From the mouth of the creek I followed the coast along parks and sealed walkways around half of Waterloo Bay to the mouth of the Tarradarrapin Creek, watching the sun filter between the massive bank of cloud columns just a few kilometres to the south, heading back home before the heavy rain started falling.
