WITH a late afternoon appointment in Brisbane's highest office, I couldn't pass up the photo opportunity. Taking the elevator with glass from floor to ceiling giving a full view out to the street as I was taken up very quickly to the floor, reminding me my head for heights isn't the best.
Ironically Brisbane doesn't have a building with an observation deck as does the Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, and other cities I've travelled around the world (Even Pyongyang has one...). The best we have is Mount Coot-tha, several kilometres away. I was just very fortunate to know people who work on this floor.
Only a few buildings stand higher than this one, and these are residential towers climbing to 81 floors. This gave me a clear view over the top of the city along the snaking Brisbane River through to Moreton Island to the north east, and in this direction, all the way to the jagged peaks of the Tweed Volcano (to the left) and the Great Dividing Range sweeping across the centre and right.
