Turtles at North Lakes

WALKING around Lake Eden, an artificial lake built in the middle of the North Lakes area, I spotted numerous turtles swimming in the murky shallows.

Each turtle had its own ecosystem of water plants growing on its shell. They lived here happily with the native swamp hens and other birds based around this protected lake, easily accessible with a one kilometre walkway around its elongated perimeter.
