THIS little sacred kingfisher (Todiramphus sanctus) has a bath in the pond late every morning on part of its rounds around the neighbourhood catching insects and lizards. Once washed it stands on the surrounding rocks drying off in the hot sun.

A smaller colourful relative to the kookaburra, the sacred kingfisher (Todiramphus sanctus) is quite common in the Brisbane area.
