FOLLOWING the long lonely south eastern coast of Moreton Island, I eventually reached the southernmost end at Mirapool.

In the late morning I had a stop at Rous Battery, an old military gun used to defend Moreton Bay during World War II. The sand dunes holding the gun in place have badly eroded creating a substantial risk of the remains of the structure collapsing down the slope.
