WATCHING the sunrise over the Albert River a couple of kilometres upstream from where it goes into the Logan River, the air was dead calm, but the low clouds were coming in quickly from the Gold Coast to the south.

The tide was coming in bringing a lot of debris upstream. Looking downstream, the river meandered its way around Mount Stapylton, with its unusual white dome weather radar seen on the top right of the hill. It is used to detect storms and rain over a couple of hundred kilometres and present it on the local weather radar website.
