STARTING from Dunwich, I hiked along the wide sand bank between the mangroves framing the forested sandhills and the placid waters of Moreton Bay. As the tide rose, I continued following the coast along the narrow beach in between the mangroves and the magnificent gum forest until the tide went out again. Eventually I reached this stream just south of Amity Point from where I watched the sun set behind the city almost completely hidden over the horizon. The dead mangrove trees added to the mystique of the sunset. |
