ANOTHER misty morning greeted me as I headed out of Litoria heading back up to the ridges of the sand dunes. The forest was now scrubby heathland with a surprising number of shrubs in flower. The webs of countless tent spiders glistened with the morning mist.

After several hours along the tops, the track descended through eucalyptus forest to the large swampy plain of the upper reaches of the Noosa River. The trees all but gave way to low heathland scrub. The slightly boggy track had numerous sundews thriving on it. Eventually I reached the Dutgee campsite beside the mirror smooth Noosa River.

The upper Noosa River is one of two everglades in the world (the other being the much larger everglades of Florida). Following an early dinner I watched the sunset from the riverbank.
