WE'VE BEEN travelling overnight northwards from below the circle and we've now back above the Antarctic Circle. It is now just after lunch as we've just arrived in this area known as the Fish Islands. Apparently each island here is named after a type of fish. It is hard to tell what is an island and what is an iceberg. There is a huge amount of ice on the sea so apparently we won't be able to do a landing due to the huge amounts of ice.

I've signed up for a photography workshop group where some of us are heading out onto zodiacs and each one is going to have a professional photographer on board. We're going to have a photography workshop which will be amazing. This is an absolutely awesome place to have it with all the amazing scenery here. We're going to launch the zodiacs soon after we find a place to anchor. What better place to have a photography lesson given by some professional photographers. So I'll see you out there in amongst the ice here and hopefully I'll learn some really good photography skills.

OK we're leaving the ship now and heading out on our expedition.

Well I've come back from the photography session out in the zodiac. Our guide was a professional photographer Cindy from the United States who has been to around 125 countries over the past few years, an incredible traveller. It was great to get her advice and all the settings to use. There's never a time to stop learning and this was a very educational session. It was also a fantastic time going through all the ice as you've seen in the video. We saw quite a few seals and penguins as you've probably also seen in the video as well. It was an absolutely fantastic session.

Because there was so much ice out here, we were unable to make a landfall. I think there is a base out here somewhere, but because the ice is so thick we just couldn't get through it. We did struggle a bit for a while just where we were. Apart from that it's been a fantastic day and I've certainly learnt a lot so here's another day, over and out.
