WELL I'M back on shore now, back in the bustling city of Ushuaia. It seemed like a small town when I arrived here a couple of weeks ago but having come back from the very remote Antarctic Peninsula it's a bit of a culture shock coming back here. Also having been at sea for the past 12 or 13 days my legs are still moving as if the ground is moving so it is going to take a little bit of time to get my land legs back.

Looking out over the Beagle Channel the clouds are all closing in now. There is not much wind yet but the rain is just starting to fall. I imagine out in the Drake Passage it is very stormy now. I'm glad we did get back in nice and early. The ship is sitting out there now. Apparently this is the last expedition they are doing in the Southern Ocean for this summer, so they are going to spend five days doing maintenance and cleaning and stuff before relocating the ship back up to, I think up in Norway, to service the Arctic season. So obviously they have got a long way to go back over to the other side of the world.

But as for me. I'm staying in Ushuaia for another couple of days before my next tour starts and it will be a totally different one to what have just done. So it's going to be a couple of quiet days relaxing and catching up on any news that may have happened anywhere around the world. But otherwise just keeping quiet. I might go out to one or two places depending on what the weather does do. But the weather is closing in now and I'm going to have to seek shelter shortly. In fact I think I'll head out to my hotel which is a couple of kilometres in that direction. I'll settle in there with a couple of nights relaxing and getting used to land and civilisation again.

Well what a way to end the day. I'm just outside the hotel beside the beach and there's a little stream coming over here. We've just had the end of a brilliant red sunset. It's certainly not the first I've seen here. I think this place does sunrises and sunsets very well. This is going to be a very nice peaceful place to stay over the next couple of days. On that note I'll say good night and see you tomorrow.
