WELL good morning from Puerto Natales, I think the third southernmost city in the world. Here I’m at the entrance into Patagonia and just across the water here is the Torres del Paine National Park. It is a very famous area. We’re just stocking up on supplies and getting ready to head over there this afternoon. This morning we got up early and left the campsite just after sunrise. We did have a good night’s sleep but it did get very cold and windy but we all survived. We’ve now arrived here and getting last minute things organised before heading across and spending about five days in the national park. That’s going to be very exciting. Anyway, I’ve got to head back and get everything organised and finalised. Then I’ll see you over there.

OK I’m up at Mirador Grey at the moment. It’s been quite a long drive up from the last town. Over there you can now see the mountains. These are the mountains that we are going to be exploring in the Torres del Paine National Park. We’re going to get a whole lot closer to them. Really looking forward to exploring them. It’s a little bit cold up here but it’s not too bad. So, it’s just a matter of getting down there and going exploring them.

We’ve just crossed the river draining the lake (we saw at the last lookout) and registered in the information centre. We’re just having a last long-distance look at the mountains. From here we’re heading a bit further up the road to our camping ground for tonight before we start trekking tomorrow.

Well now we’re reached our camping ground. Check this out for the view. This is one of the best views you can get from anywhere here. We’re just camped a bit further up the bank here at the edge of this beautiful lake and the spectacular mountains are behind us. I can definitely stay here for a few days. Obviously, we’re going to be hiking and going to other parts of the park but this spot is amongst the best that there is anywhere. So obviously I’m going to do a bit of photography here and will do some more a bit closer to sunset and also hopefully tomorrow morning when the sun rises as well. So, I’m going to leave you here in this very peaceful place and it’s not too cold here either. The wind’s really died down. This is a great place and obviously I’m going to relish it. So over and out.
