WELL it’s a new morning and today we’re travelling by truck so we’re not walking anymore. This is our final view of the famous Torres del Paine National Park where we’ve been exploring for the past few days. We’re heading over into Argentina a bit later this morning and onto El Calafate. A whole new adventure awaits.

Well good afternoon, I’ve now arrived in El Calafate. It was quite a long trip here from the Torres del Paine National Park. We had quite a long journey along this little gravel road, quite bumpy and with a border crossing. We’re in Argentina again, in the Argentine part of Patagonia. I’ve been looking around this town here after arriving a couple of hours ago. It’s quite touristy so obviously a lot of travellers come through here. Today’s been a bit of a rest day. It’s nice not to be doing a lot of hiking and exploring the national park. As amazing as it was, so it’s nice to be having a little break from that. I’m just looking around the town here.

It’s quite busy actually. A bit of a culture shock with having come out of a very quiet national park for seven days as was the case. I’ll just cross the road here. I’m now walking back through the centre of town back towards the hotel we are now staying in. I’ve actually got my own room tonight, a bit of an upgrade. In fact, a big upgrade from staying in tents so that’s very good.

Tomorrow’s going to be a big day exploring some of the glaciers. Apparently, this area is a very spectacular area of Patagonia. It’s going to be quite a hike out of town to the glaciers, but that’s all organised. I’m going to relax for the rest of the afternoon and put a few videos together and buy a few snacks for the road. I suppose I should count all the stamps in my passport because it’s interesting at this part of the world crossing over from Chile to Argentina today, then we’re going back into Chile in a couple of days’ time again.

I’m getting lots of stamps in my passport this trip, especially in this part of it. It’s getting quite full, but lucky it expires in another year or so otherwise it will be too full to use. But anyway, I’m going through the tourist strip here. It’s quite a quaint little town with its wooden buildings. As you can see a lot of tourists around and it’s a nice charming little town obviously geared up for the tourists. So, I’m going to call it a night. Heading back to the hotel now and I’ll see you probably up in the glaciers tomorrow.
