WELL IT’S another morning and another border crossing from Argentina back into Chile. I’m getting lots of stamps in the passport this trip. At the moment we are going over the twenty-kilometre road over the mountain between the border control of each country. This is a very rough road this one, not sealed. We’re going over quite a big mountain pass. Hopefully we’ll make it safely to the other side.

Well today I’m bringing this diary to you from the back of a horse. I never thought I’d see myself doing this before, but here I am. I’m back in Chile now and we’re just on a little horse-riding expedition. This is actually my first time ever on a horse, quite nervous about it but the horses seem to know what they are doing.

Nice and slowly does it. I’m not quite ready for the Melbourne Cup yet. We’ll just take things at a walking pace here for this beginner. We’re heading up the hill apparently.

I think mine’s a bit defective (turns out the bridle was in the mouth too tight which is why it was nodding its head and grunting like that).
I think we’re going through the brachiosaur paddock.

We’ve now done two hours of horse riding and we’re all still intact and it’s been a nice slow journey over the hills. Great views of the mountains and a spectacular day for it. Now it’s just the final steps to go back to base.

Well we all got back in one piece in the end and the horses behaved themselves very well. So that’s another thing I’ve done now, horse riding in Chile.
