WELL hello friends. I'm currently at Lake Samsonvale north of Brisbane where one of the water supplies is. As you can see when the lake's full the water is right up to those trees there. Because we have been in drought the past three years the water is a good four metres below where it should be. The bushfires that have been burning around the country have been burning for a couple of months now. The sky here is almost permanently orange and obscured. Fortunately there are no bushfires anywhere near here so it's fairly safe around here. There's the sun about to set over there. It is bright orange reflecting orange off the water. It is quite eerie.
This is why I haven't been doing much travel at this time of year and particularly this time of year. It is actually pretty cool being down to 27 or perhaps even 26 degrees. But with all the smoke around and it is so dry here that it makes bushwalking quite dangerous. I'm really glad to have been bushwalking in New Zealand recently.
