I HEADED up to the Tewantin town centre from where I followed the road towards the Noosa Ferry a short distance before turning off to follow the star of the Sunshine Coast Coastal Walkway, which extends 106 kilometres down the length of the coast. I followed this path through Tewantin along the bank of the lower Noosa River.

After a couple of hours I reached the mouth of Weyba Creek, where I turned upstream to follow a path along one of the main roads. This section of the stream was mostly tidal mangroves so views of the creek were a bit sparse. Eventually I crossed the bridge over Weyba Creek about a kilometre upstream before the path and road headed uphill along the side of the northern end of the Noosa Headlands hills. The path remained in good condition following the road through the thick forest until reaching its highest point at Noosa Junction shops. From here the track started descending towards Noosa Beach changing to boardwalk as it passed through the dense forest.

I reached the bottom of the hill at Noosa Station at the end of Hastings Street. I walked along the short street on the sandbar before entering the forest following a track along the estuary to the mouth of the Noosa River. Here I walked along the rock wall towards its end to watch the sun setting across the river, and the full moon rising over Noosa Heads.

From here I walked along the beach back into Noosa Village where I stayed the night.
