Heading out onto the beach before first light of dawn, there was enough light from the full moon to see by, so I reached the first rock wall to set up for the sunrise. cloud covered the sky, but parted enough to show the light of the dawn over the headlands.

I remained at the rock wall watching the brilliant colours of the dawn before starting to hike along the beach as the locals started appearing for their morning walks.

Upon reaching the end of the beach, I followed the boardwalk path around the headlands through the forest beside the road towards the headlands walking tracks. It was quite busy here this morning as the track rose and fell over the headlands. I reached the car park and the start of the track, following it further around the headlands.

The track was very easy and wheelchair grade as it rose up to the lookout over Boiling Pot, with great views across to the Cooloola Sandmass across the bay. From here I continued along the track passing above the rocky formations towards the sand of Tea Tree Bay. The track remained in the forest heading around the bay and up to Dolphin Point, where the wheelchair grade track ended at the viewpoint.

From Dolphin Point I followed the walking trail through the forest above Granite Bay, a popular surf beach, although the surf was very low today. There were a couple of people carrying surfboards, but not surfing here. I continued following the track until finding a steep route down to the beach. I stopped at the beach for a while under the overcast sky before returning to the main track.

Shortly after returning to the main track, it suddenly ended with this section of track around the headlands being closed for maintenance. Instead I followed the shortcut across the top of the ridge and down into Alexandria Bay.

Large waves were breaking on the beach here, and quite a few people were surfing. I followed the beach, initially quite narrow from the breaking waves, but getting wider as I approached the other end. A lot of people were walking along the beach today.

Upon reaching the end of Alexandria Beach, I crossed over the headland and descended into Sunshine Beach which I followed up to the surf lifesaving club from where I caught the free weekend bus back to Noosa Beach from where I headed home.
