I TOOK a short walk today heading up Todd's Road in Lawnton to the path heading down into Young's Crossing, where the road crosses North Pine River a short distance downstream from the Lake Samsonvale Stream. Normally very little water flows here, but during the floods earlier this year this road was closed and flooded. I took a look at the erosion and bush damage from the torrent of water flowing from the dam's overflow during the floods when this area received about a metre of rain in three days.
Today the natural pool here was calm as usual with people swimming in its cool water. From here I headed up the path and followed the road about two kilometres to Tukuwompa Park, the first of the parks at the edge of the lake.
