A COMPOSITE image of a cloud formation taken out of a plane window in the middle of the day, and darkened to appear illuminated by the bright gibbous moon taken with a 500mm lens on crop frame SLR created this surreal image of the moon lighting up the Earth's night sky.

Such an image would be impossible to take from out of a plane window at altitude, hence the need for creating the composite image.
