Introduction to today's journey
Today's journey takes me to a small temple in the Angkor complex before returning to Siem Reap for the afternoon to explore the city and attend a concert in the evening.
Today's Journey
We return to Angkor in the early morning reaching Banteay Kdei temple, one of the small temples. |
Small statues inside the temple dedicated to women. |
Returning towards Siem Reap, we stop at a bomb museum, containing bombs that were dropped here in the wars of recent decades. It is a solemn reminder the countryside is still littered with old bombs and landmines. |
Continuing along the road, we stop at one of the many roadside stalls. |
A young lady makes lollies over a large wok and fire. |
Returning to Siem Reap where I explore the city centre. The Siem Reap River is almost to capacity sluggishly draining into the nearby Tonle Sap lake. |
I buy a book from this stall, run by a guy who lost his hands from a land mine. He now runs his own successful business from his cart. |
Some of the many markets in Siem Reap attempting to get some of the tourist dollars. |
Masseuses sitting outside their massage parlour in the middle of Siem Reap. |
I meet with the group after sunset to have dinner as the sky darkens over the city. |
