Introduction to today's journey
Today's journey takes us from Camamento Los Cuernos following Estancia Cerro Paine above Lago Nordenkjold to the end of the main track at Camp Central.

More rain falls overnight, but clears by the early morning. Misty clouds linger around the mountains with the snow capped Grande Paine clearly visible in the distance. |

The eerie fog passes the mountains towering nearly two kilometres above our camp at Refugio Low Cuernos. |

After a big breakfast, we set off along the rough track through the fog which has once more enveloped the mountainside. |

After leaving the lake, we cross a low saddle and reach the smaller lake Laguna Inge reflecting the cloud covered mountains. |

From the lake we cross another low saddle before descending into a basin where the Rio Ascencio cascades under the wooden bridge we cross. We will be following this river upstream along the right hand side of the W tomorrow. |

After crossing the river we hike another two kilometres before reaching the main camping ground (Camp Central) of the W Trek where we are staying for two our final two nights on the trek. |
