TODAY'S Moscow and Russia are formed from a combination of the magic its fairy tale traditions, the mysterious darkness of communism in the days of the USSR, and modern Western-style capitalism that has infiltrated the country since breaking away from communism in 1991.
Somehow the city has maintained a very nice balance between these three very different cultures Russia has been through. What stands now is a unique culture unlike any I have previously seen, but works very well here.
Preserved in this now modern city are relics of old times, with Red Square and the Kremlin having a depth of history of nearly a thousand years when the city was first settled at the junction of two rivers in the depths of a vast tall forest of deciduous trees, and has been through several invasions from both the east and the west, surviving and prospering to what it is now.
