I CLIMBED Mount Beerburrum for the first time in quite a while. Near the summit lookout I could see through a gap in the trees to the other mountains.
Tibrogargan was looking a little unusual today. Several weeks ago a small bushfire had burnt near the summit. Given how dry it has been this year and all the dry leaf litter that had accumulated around the mountain, a controlled burn off had been done about two weeks ago to make the mountain safe to climb again. Today I had seen the extent of the bushfire. It would have been a spectacular sightseeing the entire mountain burning.
The forest around the mountain will quickly regenerate. In most parts of the world, fire destroys forests. Here in Australia, fire brings new life to forests. When the rains do come, everything will quickly regenerate, including the seeds of the gum trees which will only germinate after being burnt by fire.
