THE FIRST hints of dawn were appearing through the clouds as I left Victoria Point Jetty starting to make my way along the sandy beach towards the Redland Bay Marina some ten kilometres away.
After leaving the jetty the sky quickly lightened to produce this spectacular dawn as the sun's rays blazed across the different layers of cloud, remnants from yesterday's afternoon storm, and a part of the distant Cyclone Gita about a thousand kilometres offshore making its way southwards along the Tasman Sea towards New Zealand.
I did reach the marina after several beaches, concrete tracks above mangroves and headlands, and streets linking the tracks together. From the marina I continued along the coast down to Talburpin Point marking the southernmost inhabited area of Redlands, before starting part of the journey towards the mouth of the Logan River.
