Good morning friends. This morning as you can see from what I'm wearing and from the sky above it is a bit of a rainy day today. It's not a great idea to go anywhere too distant. I thought today I'd do things I'd lined up for rainy days and part of that would involve riding a few trams to explore the city. I'm at Docklands at the moment about two blocks from where I'm staying just beside the city. From here I'm going to catch the number 75 tram. The Guinness Book of World Records says this is the longest tram route in the world, the longest tram that travels along roads. It runs for 22.6 kilometres over seventy five stops. I thought I'd do this one so I can say I've been on the world's longest tram and see what I find along the way and at the other end.

Well friends I've now made it to Vermont South Station, seventy five stops in at the end of the longest tram line in the world. Now I'll have a look around here to see if there is anything worth having a look at before heading back.

I'm about 1400 metres from the tram station at a place called Pin Oak Court. It's just a little court here. I did a little bit of research and discovered South Vermont does have one claim to fame. This is the street where apparently some of the soap opera Neighbours was filmed. I only watched two or three episodes when it first came out back in the 1980s but apparently it went on for quite a long time and only finished up fairly recently to my understanding. Those of you in Australia, the UK and New Zealand, this was a soap opera program running for a long time and apparently a lot of it was filmed here in this court. It has changed a lot and there's a new house going up here. Those of you who did watch it would probably recognise a few things here. I'll do a quick walk around. Aparrently this is the one claim to fame of this suburb.

OK I didn't recognise anything at all in there but as I mentioned before I only watched a couple of episodes back in the 80s so it would have changed a lot but that's where a lot of Neighbours was filmed for the outdoor scenes. The indoor scenes were filmed in the city somewhere. Anyway I'm going to do a bit more looking around then head back to the tram station and back into Melbourne.

I should also mention the official name of the street is Pin Oak Court but the fictional name in the program was Ramsey Street. I've also just remembered just over a year ago in Sydney I was hiking along Palm Beach where the rival program Home and Away was filmed a lot. The two programs were rival soap operas very much in competition with each other. Melbourne had Neighbours and Sydney had Home and Away. I'm not a fan of either of them but I've now been to both sites.

I'm back at the platform now. Seventy five stops to the city. The trams depart every ten minutes here so there will be one coming shortly and hopefully it won't be covered in advertising so I can get some good views.

Well friends, this completes the two lengths of the longest tram route in the world. I'm going to explore more of the city now but I'll leave you here. Thanks friends for joining me again today. I'll catch you somewhere else here in Melboune tomorrow, so until then, ciao for now.
