Well hello friends. It's a while since I've done a diary but today I'm at Four Mile Creek just north of Brisbane near where I live. About two weeks ago we had a massive downpour of three hundred millimetres of rain falling in three hours one night. This little placid creek rose by five or six metres causing flooding in some of the low lying areas here. Quite a lot of houses got flooded. Fortunately I live on top of a ridge and was quite safe. This whole area got quite badly flooded and these palm trees got completely bent over from the torrent that came through but now it's back to normal.

I'm just a little bit further upstream now and you can see all this grass debris that bas been deposited on this fence here. I'll start coming down the track now. You probably can't see it in the camera here but there is quite a big drop down to the creek. I'm heading down now and you can see where the water flowed through a couple of weeks ago. There used to be quite a bit more vegetation here. There's a lot of beautiful butterflies through here. It's all been cleaned out. There's a lot of debris through here as well. I'm now descending and heading towards the bridge which fortunately stayed up. It is a very new bridge, so had we still have the old one it probably would have been washed away. Down here some of the fence is completely gone now. Now I'm just crossing over the creek.

There it is. A lot of the rainforest has been cleaned out. The water itself is very clear. I've not seen it this clear before. Looking over this side a lot of the vegetation has been cleared out. Now I'm heading up the path on the other side, just exploring the area seeing what three hundred millimetres looks like. The water has flowed across the path here. That was quite a dramatic night but fortunately I live on top of a hill. There was no worries up there, just a very noisy rain storm that night.

So friends I'll leave you here. Thanks for joining me again. I'll catch you somewhere else next time, so until then, ciao for now.
