THE PLAINS of Masai Mara is a land where the animals roam free. Here through natural selection of the survival of the fittest both predator and herbivore have evolved niches to ensure their survival in this rather dangerous environment.
It had been very sobering to have explored this area. Here I had to remain alert to the dangers at all times. I had the security of the van and of my tour guide Joseph. Our distant ancestors who had dwelled here hundreds of thousands of years ago did not have this luxury. This would have contributed to humans making the amazing transition from ape to the intelligent beings we are now. It had been humbling to have explored the area shared by my ancestors many thousands of generations ago.
