Introduction to today's journey
IN THE northern stretches of the US seaboard, the city of Boston with its rich history sits in a strategic port. Founded by puritan colonists escaping British rule in the 1630s, the city has grown to flourish particulary as an academic centre with some of the world's most prestigious universities. Its growth hasn't been uneventful though, with the city being famous for the Boston Tea Party battle of 1775 and in 1919 when the port area of the city was completely flooded with hot molasses when a giant tank burst killing 21 people.
Today's journey takes me into Boston, where I explore Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. From there I head to the city centre to take a boat trip around the harbour before exploring the central city and markets. From there I return towards New York, finishing at Stamford, Connecticut.
