Introduction to today's journey
NEW YORK City sits on a tiny wedge at the end of New York state. People commute into Manhattan each day from far and wide. Most come from parts of New York state, but some commute down from Connecticut, and others cross the river from New Jersey. All these areas are well serviced by commuter rail. My explorations to date have been strictly around Manhattan Island, but the outlying areas also need to be explored.
Today's journey starts at Stamford, Connecticut from where many people commute into the city. After a sunrise shoot, I take a train into Manhattan and explore the city following the High Trail where the overhead city railway used to run. From there I head underground and take the modern metro across the river into Jersey City, which I explore before watching the sunset from the river.
