THE COMBIE Trader appeared over the horizon as a distant dot very slowly approaching over the middle of the morning. I had packed up the old tent putting it in my equally old backpack ready for retirement with the straps starting to fall apart, but both would last a few more trips yet.

This had been a very relaxing break, the only regret being not having a camera, so I decided upon my return to Brisbane, I'll be going to a few camera shops to get a camera to capture some of the amazing landscapes and seascapes I've explored over the years.

The diaries after today will be photos I've taken on the day of each diary. From today backwards, all the photos I've used were (obviously) from later trips revisiting the areas I'd explored in my pre-camera days and which I'd deliberately aged to effect.

Anyway the ferry eventually arrived, letting off a bunch of vehicles before letting the new ones on board heading back to Scarborough. Once all the vehicles were aboard, they let those of us walking on to embark and head up to the observation deck.

Once upstairs the view over the wrecks and down to Cowan Cowan and Tangalooma was amazing. The Combie Trader revered and brought up the ramp before turning around and starting its long slow journey back to Scarborough. Initially the turquoise water turned purple as we crossed a deep channel, then turquoise again as we crossed a sand back. Then the water turned almost black as we crossed the main shipping channel. When the water became shallow again, it was a dirty and cloudy colour, indicating the mudflats were getting hear. Some buildings were visible in Redcliffe now, and these very gradually grew bigger as we approached the port.

Eventaully the Combie Trader pulled into Scarborough Harbour and landed at the terminal, from where I could get a bus home.
