I THOUGHT last night's sunset had been spectacular, but that was just a shadow of what would come this morning. There had been a big storm in the mid evening, and at 2:30 in the morning I decided to get up and walk along the beach.
Fortunately by then the rain had stopped falling. It was a very peaceful early morning walking along the shores of the exposed beach in the warmth of late spring.
Eventually the sky began to lighten. By then I had reached Edgar's Creek near where the main dirt road across the island comes out onto the beach. The sky quickly lightened in anticipation of the sunrise. I didn't think much would happen as it was too cloudy, but the sun did break through between the three layers of cloud, and for about two minutes I witnessed the most spectacular deep colours of the sunrise dancing across the cloud layers before it disappeared into the clouds again.
