MOUNT Victoria is a steep hill that overlooks Wellington City. It is covered by a forest of windswept pine trees, their trunks a greyish purple tone giving an eeriness to the forest.
Several tracks go through the forest. Walking through the forest this morning in anticipation of an approaching southerly change and thunderstorm, I recognised several locations that had been used as scenes in the filming of Lord of the Rings some years earlier.
This forest certainly carried the mysteriousness that would make it worthy of being part of the mythical Middle Earth.
