AT THE northern end of the beach at The Anchorage, the retreating tide has left spectacular patterns of ironsand over the regular granite sand. At this end of the beach headlands jut out over the sand before the large hill separating the bay from Torrent Bay creates a barrier preventing any further progress.

Beyond the immediate headland is a small sandy grotto leading to a small glow worm cave accessible only at low tide.

They say this little headland looks like an elephant. If you look carefully beyond the main headland you will see a little rock that looks like a baby elephant.
