THIS was my first flight out of Australasia, and my first time in the Northern Hemisphere. It was therefore my first time crossing the equator. From 12 kilometres above sea level flying in a 747 (another first!), large storm clouds were scattered across the sea. In the absence of the Coriolis effect prevalent in temperate latitudes, the clouds had nowhere to go. |
