DROUGHT had stricken Australia's east coast for nearly ten years. Locally the dams were drying up down to around fifteen percent. Inland the crops had died and the soil had dried into dust. Strong westerly winds had picked up the topsoil a few days ago carrying it towards the coast. A few days later the sky around Brisbane suddenly turned orange. |
