UPON my return to Hanoi from Halong, I stopped at a pottery factory. Here in dilapidated buildings the most beautifully crafted porcelain pottery was being manufactured.
There were many small industries like this all over Vietnam. The people here use whatever resources they can in this impoverished nation to eke out their living. Some are very successful. In between these small industries dotted around the countryside of rice paddy fields are huge factories creating things for export to Western nations.
